For the next 12 months, Team India is tightly packed with a busy cricketing schedule. In addition to home fixtures, international matches are scheduled to be hosted in countries such as England, Sri Lanka, Afghanistan, New Zealand, Ireland, Zimbabwe, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), and Japan.
Furthermore, the suspended Bangladesh tour is likely to be on the cards only if the strained political relationship between the two nations comes to an end.
Meanwhile, several reports surfaced that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is planning to increase the number of One Day Internationals (ODIs) ahead of the 2027 World Cup.
As the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2026 is scheduled to be completed in the last week of May, let’s take a look at the men-in-blue’s action-packed calendar for the next 12 months.
June 2026: Multi-Format Home Series vs Afghanistan
Soon after the conclusion of IPL 2026, India will host Afghanistan in a multi-format series that includes a one-off test and 3 ODIs. Here is a detailed schedule of those matches at home before their England tour:
- One-Off Test: 06th to 10th June 2026 in New Chandigarh.
- 1st ODI: 14th June 2026 in Dharamshala.
- 2nd ODI: 17th June 2026 in Lucknow.
- 3rd ODI: 20th June 2026 in Chennai.
June 2026: Ireland Tour (T20I Series)
Meanwhile, BCCI is in active discussions with Cricket Ireland (CI) to organize a 3-match series. Possibly, before the commencement of England’s T20I series, Team India is expected to tour Ireland for the 20-over contest. However, the final schedule has not yet been confirmed.
The closest sources to BCCI cited the Indian cricket board’s support to CI in 2018, 2022, and 2023 to host series for a short span in Dublin.
Suppose the deal is finalized, the matches are likely to be scheduled in the final week of June, after the conclusion of the home series against Afghanistan.
July 2026: England Tour (White Ball Series)
India will tour England for the white-ball series ahead of traveling to Sri Lanka. This limited-overs series, scheduled between 01st and 19th of July, comprises 3 ODIs and 5 T20Is:
- 1st T20I: July 01, 2026, in Chelster-le-street.
- 2nd T20I: July 04, 2026, in Manchester.
- 3rd T20I: July 07, 2026, in Nottingham.
- 4th T20I: July 09, 2026, in Bristol.
- 5th T20I: July 11, 2026, in Southampton.
- 1st ODI: July 14, 2026, in Birmingham.
- 2nd ODI: July 16, 2026, in Cardiff.
- 3rd ODI: July 19, 2026, in London (Lord’s)
NOTE: The exact dates and venues for India’s Future Tour Programs (FTPs) are finalized only till the England tour in July 2026.
August 2026: Sri Lanka Multi-Format Tour (Red and White Ball Series)
According to the latest reports, the Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) has requested the BCCI to organize three T20Is as a support campaign to aid those affected during the floods in Sri Lanka last November.
So, it is likely that the T20I series would commence ahead of the 2-match test series.
September 2026: Afghanistan T20I Series in the UAE
September 2026 turns out to be the busiest month in the Indian cricket calendar. Following the Sri Lankan tour, the BCCI could face scheduling challenges as the 3-match T20I series is lined up against Afghanistan in the UAE.
In the same month, Bangladesh’s postponed white-ball tour, comprising 6 matches— three ODIs and three T20Is, is likely to take place. Amidst the rising diplomatic tensions between these two nations, the bilateral series depends on clearance from the Indian government.
September 2026: Home Series vs Zimbabwe
There are discussions that Zimbabwe’s tour to India in September 2026 could be cut short to a 3-match T20I series. As of now, there is no confirmation of the series happening, as India would have a short preparatory phase to host the West Indies for the white-ball fixtures.
September to October 2026: White Ball Home Series vs West Indies
The eight-match series against West Indies at home comprises 5 T20Is and 3 ODIs. However, there are chances for the 50-over matches to be increased.
Asian Games September 2026: India’s Possibility to Take Part in 2 Events at the Same Time?
Since the West Indies white-ball tour will continue till October, India’s T20I squad will also need to participate in the Asian Games in Japan, scheduled between September 25 and October 03. The two events clash simultaneously as India would be competing against the Windies in ODIs at the same time.
October to November 2026: New Zealand Multi-Format Tour
India will embark on their toughest tour on New Zealand soil commencing from October 18 onwards. While the exact schedule has not been announced, it becomes clear that New Zealand Cricket (NZC) has agreed to BCCI’s request to increase ODIs from three to five.
Overall, there will be five ODIs and five T20Is followed by two test matches.
December 2026: White Ball Home Series vs Sri Lanka
Following the New Zealand tour, India would return home in the first week of December 2026 with a 3-ODI and 3 T20Is line-up against Sri Lanka.
January to February 2027: Border Gavaskar Trophy vs Australia (At Home)
Before the commencement of the 20th season of the Indian Premier League (IPL) in March 2027, India will host Australia in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT). The 5-match test series on the Indian soil in January to February 2027 offers the best chance for India to reclaim their BGT title at home.
