Once again, Pakistan cricket has been trapped in a new controversy following their disappointing end to their campaign in the ICC T20 World Cup 2026.

This isn’t just about the team’s failure to secure a berth in the playoffs. Rather, the controversy took a different path off the field. One of the players from Pakistan’s T20 World Cup squad is reported to have misbehaved with a female hotel staff member in Sri Lanka.

Telecom Asia Sport’s closest sources revealed that the Pakistani cricketer exhibited improper conduct with a lady housekeeping staff member.

As soon as the lady shouted for help, the other staff members of the hotel arrived at the spot immediately. They intervened and alerted the Pakistan team manager, Naveed Cheema, about the incident. 

The hotel management was extremely disappointed with this matter and demanded strong action by imposing a massive fine against the unprofessional behavior of the Pakistani player.

However, the issue was temporarily settled after Cheema seeked apology from the hotel authorities on behalf of his team player.

So far, the Pakistani cricketer’s identity hasn’t been disclosed so far. But, he is certain to face disciplinary action upon returning to his nation.

PCB to Penalize All Players of T20 World Cup Squad

Meanwhile, several sources cited that PCB has reportedly approved to impose a fine on every cricketer for their subpar performance in the T20 World Cup. According to the Pakistani Rupee (PKR), the penalty could range upto 50 lakh.

The board would not even mind taking strict action against anyone involved in the false speculations,” PCB stated.

The above statement adds clarity that the Board demands a quick apology from the media for promoting false stories against players and is ready to act strictly if it doesn’t happen.

Past Instances of Pakistan’s Alleged Misconduct

For the unversed, this is not the first time that a Pakistani cricketer has been involved in harassment allegations.

The earlier example includes Haider Ali’s accusations of raping a woman when Pakistan Shaheens toured England the previous year. Later, the Manchester police released him after the investigators failed to gather enough evidence to proceed with his case.

Likewise, Malang Ali’s name resurfaced after this incident. The masseur of the Pakistan team during the Malaysian tour was alleged to be involved in misbehaving against female staff member.
