SA20 2025 Season 3: Top Rising Stars Set To Create A BIG Sensation!

SA20 2025

The SA20 2025 started on January 09 with MI Cape Town securing a dominating 97-run victory against the Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the tournament’s curtain-raiser. Consequently, South Africa’s next set of rising talents will be under focus as the season progresses. Especially, Dewald Brevis’s started the season by scoring a stunning half-century that bolstered MI’s total to 174-7 in 20 overs.

The third edition of the South African T20 League has become a core platform for youngsters to prove their mettle in competing against experienced international star cricketers.

Interestingly, the young players under 25 of age are presented with the ‘Rising Star Award’ for their impressive performance throughout the season, adding a special layer of thrill to the SA20 league.

Former South African cricketer and the Betway SA20 Ambassador Ab de Villers has outlined his focus for emerging talents across the six participating teams. He selected a bunch of dynamic South African players who could set the stage on fire in the ongoing season. The 40-year-old has been closely watching the star performers of Sunrisers, including the names of close watch, including Jordan Hermann and his teammate Bryce Parsons.

De Villiers strongly believes that the SA20 2025 season will witness several blazing performances from the Durban Super Giants’ rising star all-rounder Bryce Parsons, as well as the Joburg Super Kings duo Proteas cricketers Gerald Coetzee and JP King. Furthermore, he predicts that this could be Coetzee’s season by topping the charts as the leading wicket-taker.

The ex-360-degree batsman praised the South African bowlers Kwena Maphaka and Nqaba Peter, highlighting the duo’s chances to become the future of Paarl Royals.

Bryce Parsons (Durban Super Giants) :

De Villiers heaped compliments on the Durban Super Giants spin-bowling all-rounder Bryce Parson for his aggressive batting approach in the top order:

“Yeah! The Durban Super Giants’ rising star Bryce Parsons is known for his powerful batting skills in the top order. The left-handed batter’s power-hitting skills send the ball a country mile. His batting style reminds me of David Miller. Overall, when Bryce arrives at the crease and gets going with his peak form, it would be fun watching his batting,” ABD said.

Jordan Hermann (Sunrisers Eastern Cape):

The former South African captain spoke highly about Sunrisers Eastern Cape’s left-handed batter Jordan Hermann as the future star of cricket:

“Excellent! He is one such talented player who delivers spectacular performances. I’ve viewed him as a promising candidate in the Proteas line-up. Looking forward to watching great record-breaking achievements from him in the upcoming days,” De Villiers said.

Andile Simelane (Sunrisers Eastern Cape)

Having represented the South African national team the previous summer, ‘MR.360’ is confident about Andile Simelane’s abilities to provide a breakthrough performance for his team in the current season:

“Fabulous! Andile is one such reliable all-rounder for Sunrisers Eastern Cape. Despite not participating much in the Betway SA20, I still hope that the third season could kickstart his career as his role will be crucial for Sunrisers to secure crucial wins in the tournament. His potential to change the flow of the game with both bat and ball further increases my excitement to watch him in action.” the legendary South African cricketer said.

Dewald Brevis (MI Cape Town)

Ab de Villiers feels that the 2025 season would be one of the most memorable ones in Dewald Brevis’s T20 career, which is indeed one of his favorites as well:

“Certainly! He is my hottest favorite cricketer. I urge this young lad to win this award (Rising Star Award for emerging players) in the ongoing Season 3. I have been praising his skills in cricket for a long time. Now, I strongly believe that the Betway SA20 2025 is his season to deliver a stunning performance,” ABD shared his opinion.

However, the 21-year-old lived up to De Villiers” expectations in his first match of the season. A stunning 29-ball-57 runs from Brevis that included 2 fours and 6 sixes at a strike rate of 196.55, revived MI Cape Town’s batting performance from a poor start against Sunrisers Eastern Cape in the opening clash. Ultimately, it was Delano Potgieter’s 5-wicket haul that bundled out the defending champion’s innings to just 77 in 15 overs.

Kwena Maphaka and Nqaba Peter (Paarl Royals)

Moreover, De Villiers is very impressed with the exciting prospects of Kwena Maphaka and Nqaba Peter. Over the past 12 months, Kwema Maphaka and Nqaba Peter have witnessed their revenues rising:

“Exactly! As a dynamic young left-arm pacer, Maphaka’s delivery has been recorded at the speed of light. He is one of the top bowlers for Paarl Royals who is expected to grab the Rising Star Award. Similar is the opinion for Nqaba Peter, being a great choice for the future of South African cricket,” Ab De Villiers added.
